We are saddened to announce the passing of David Lynn Read, 40, and his beloved sons, Wilhelm Nicklaus Read, 7, and Brantley Jaxson Read, 6. Their lives were tragically cut short due to a fire at their home, leaving a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved them.

David Lynn Read was born on June 23, 1983, in Terrell, to the late John David Read and Deborah Ann Parker Washburn. Raised in Edgewood, David was a proud member of the Edgewood High School Class of 2002.

In 2008, he met Ashton Michelle Harley, and together they built a family filled with love and joy. Wilhelm Nicklaus Read, born on July 13, 2016, and Brantley Jaxson Read, born on June 9, 2017, brought immeasurable happiness to David and Ashton’s lives.

The trio shared a passion for dirt track racing and cherished moments spent at the track. Summer days were filled with laughter at Splash Kingdom and family trips to the beach. David, a dedicated ranch hand for Tim Erwin, took pride in his work, providing for his family. Wilhelm and Brantley were students at Edgewood Elementary, where they began their educational journey.

David is preceded in death by his father and mother. David, Wilhelm, and Brantley are survived by Ashton Harley, the loving wife and mother of the boys, step-son and brother Marcus Welborn, grandparents Deborah and Butch Cunningham, grandfather, Scott Washburn, and David’s aunt, Rebecca Martinez, all of Edgewood. Their passing leaves a void not only in the hearts of their family but also in the hearts of a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services to honor the lives of David Lynn Read and his sons, Wil and Brantley will be held Friday, January 19, 2024, at the First Baptist Church in Edgewood. Visitation will precede the service by one hour. Burial will follow at Small Cemetery. The services are under the direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Edgewood.

During this difficult time, you can leave your condolences to the family at www.hlfhs.com. May David, Wilhelm, and Brantley rest in peace, and their memories be a source of comfort during the challenging days ahead.
