Services for Wesley DeWayne Sherwood, Sr., 84, of Wills Point, were held Friday, August 11, 2023, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton with Bro. Mike Knous officiating. Interment was in Haven of Memories.

Mr. Sherwood passed away on August 6, 2023, at his home. He was born August 23, 1938, to Cecil Wesley and Sarah Alice Wood Sherwood.

Wesley had 42 years of service with the former Chance Vought, LTV, and later E-Systems, which became Raytheon. His work took him all over the world. From 1971 until the end of Vietnam War, he supported Air America Aircraft. Wesley supported the RC135 Big Safari Programs. He spent 25 years on the German Peace Peak. Wesley served his community by serving on several boards. He was a member of the Myrtle Springs Volunteer Fire Department where he served as chief. He served on the Myrtle Springs School Board and was the president. He also served on the Myrtle Springs Water Supply Company as the president. He loved spending time with his family and was a very generous man.

Mr. Sherwood is preceded in death by his parents: Cecil Sherwood and Alice Young; stepfather, Mitchell Young; infant brother, Cecil Sherwood; sister Faye Sherwood; and brother, Grady Sherwood.

Wesley is survived by his wife of 63 years, Faye Sherwood; son, Wesley Sherwood Jr. and wife, Carol; daughter, Connie Sherwood Tramel and husband, Glenn; daughter, Brenda Sherwood Rodgers; five grandchildren: Correna Carmona, Kenny Herrin, Christopher Rodgers, Mitchell Sherwood, and Liligrace Birdsong-Sherwood; eight great-grandchildren: Raylynd, Dane, Aven, Austin, Loen, Julian, Theodore and Genevieve; one greatgreat- grandchild, Ashlynn; and two brothers: John Sherwood and Steve Sherwood.

Pallbearers were Mike Matus, Brooks Blanton, John Tandy, Alton Sherwood, Herman Martin and Kevin Martin.

Visitation was held one hour prior to the service.
