Funeral services for Effie Nell Phillips, 94, of Mesquite, formerly of Wills Point, were held Tue., Sep. 5, 2023, at Hiett’s LyBrand Chapel in Wills Point. Burial followed at Union Grove Cemetery, FM 751 outside of Wills Point.

Effie Nell Pennington Phillips passed away on September 1, 2023. She was born on September 21, 1928, in Crystal Springs, Mississippi, to her parents E.V. Pennington and Inez Crews Pennington. On September 30, 1946, Effie was reunited with her loved ones who passed before her, including her parents and husband, son William Leitus Phillips, and daughter Gay Nell Hennig.
