A funeral service for Charlie “Bud” Jack Phipps, 87, of Terrell will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 27, 2023, at Eubank Funeral Home, with Bro. Adam Mackleroy officiating.

Charlie, Bud, Uncle Bud, and Pop, as he was so fondly called by family and friends, passed away peacefully on Nov. 14, 2023, in Terrell surrounded by family. He was born on Feb. 27, 1936, in Wills Point to Jack H. Phipps and Constance (Connie) Marie Langley Phipps.

Bud grew up in Wills Point and graduated from Wills Point High School. On June 2, 1956, he married his one true love, Bernice “Bea” Peace. Theirs was a true love affair of 64 years at her passing. Bud and Bea were totally devoted to each other and now are reunited in their forever home. Forever remembered fondly as Aunt Bea and Uncle Bud, Mim and Pop.

Bud was a retired bricklayer. He was a fan of sports; he never missed a Maverick basketball game or a Dallas Cowboy game. You could find him relaxing watching sports with his beloved dogs, Sissy (deceased) and his new companion, Poppy, by his side. He enjoyed gardening. Bud grew a huge variety of vegetables. Jalapenos and tomatoes grew in abundance. Bud beamed as he shared his harvest with family and friends. He took pride in maintaining and caring for Bea’s flower garden. Bud enjoyed taking the family out to dinner, or better yet; asking “you want to pick up some hamburgers!” Among his favorites; Burger King or Braum’s. This big-hearted man loved his nieces and nephews as his own. Bud will be deeply missed but live on in the hearts and memories of all that knew and loved him.

Bud is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Connie Phipps; his loving wife, Bernice “Bea” Phipps; sister, Lilly Jane Phipps; and aunt, Alice Phipps Todd.

He is survived by his family: nieces and nephews, Regina and Chris Mitchell, Tammy and Mike Gilmore, Danny Bruner, Jimmy and Sylvia Peace; great nieces and nephews: Kasie Furstenwerth, Shane and April Bruner, Capp Peace; great-great niece and nephew: Elaina Bruner and Elliott Bruner; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Peace Bruner; Dear friends and neighbors: Sharon and Bill, Joy and James; a host of other family and friends.

A visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 27, 2023, at the funeral home.

Interment will be at White Rose Cemetery in Wills Point.
