The clock for persons potentially interested in serving a term on either the Wills Point City Council or Wills Point ISD Board of Trustees will of-set to close at 5 p.m. The City of Wills Point entered the new election cycle with four potential places up for contention including council seats currently held by Oscar Rogers, Herschel LyBrand and Kyle Anderson and the position of mayor held by Mark Turner.

The East Texas Council of Governments has announced $4.5 million in grants from the Governor’s Public Safety Office awarded to East Texas jurisdictions and nonprofits. The Governor’s Public Safety Office administers federal and state grant funding to promote strategies that improve public safety, support victims of crime, prevent terrorism, and prepare communities for the threats and hazards that pose the greatest risk to Texans.
