The James Pinckney Henderson Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas met June 25 in Canton.

Members enjoyed the presentation by Pat Thibodeau on Republic of Texas Citizen and Early Settler in Van Zandt County Elvira Engledow who is buried in Hillcrest Cemetery. Elvira’s son-in-law built the Blackwell House which still stands and is a now a historical site and museum in Canton. Registrar Sherrie Archer introduced new DRT member Harli Hankins and new CRT member Oaklee Hankins. Also present was DRT member Angie Moser.

With Archer’s mother who is a posthumous member of the chapter, the ladies represent five generations of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas.
