Cross country teams compete at Canton Invitational

Twenty cross country teams from across the East Texas area, including Wills Point, traveled to Canton Sept. 16, competing in this year's Canton Invitational Cross Country Meet.

Wills Point finished fourth overall in the varsity girls division with 110 total points, behind Kaufman with 34, Fairfield with 53, and Bishop T.K. Gorman with 64.

Hannah Sauceda was Wills Point's top individual finisher placing 10th place with a time of 12:49.08.

Leslie Gonzalez finished 28th in 14:22.08, Brisa Carrillo finished 32nd in 14:40.60, Kaylee King finished 33rd in 14:45.34, Allison Wolfe finished 34th in 14:48.74, and Natalee Darst finished 55th in a time of 16:46.07.

The Tiger varsity boys team finished fifth overall out of 11 qualifying teams with 136 points, behind Kaufman with 22 points, Mabank with 71, Canton with 97 and Bishop T.K. Gorman with 102.

Cade Davis led all Tiger runners finishing in 10th place in 18:07.92, followed by Cole Williams in 18th place in 18:36.74, Aidan Phillips in 32nd place in 19:29.50, Xavier Torres in 36th place in 19:45.51, Edwin Figueroa in 45th place in 20:16.88, and Gerardo Gonzalez in 63rd place with a time of 21:38.13.

Junior Varsity

The Lady Tiger JV team finished in sixth place out of seven qualifying teams at the Canton Invitational, trailing Kaufman, Fairfield, Union Grove, Bishop T.K. Gorman and Ferris.
