This Week in Wills Point History

April 21, 1961

The Tigers remain undefeated in district baseball play by capturing their second and third victories over Brownsboro last Thursday, 4-2 and Edgewood on Tuesday, 3-1.

Means were found this week to complete the Wills Point Improvement Association’s swimming pool and additional facilities, thereby assuring opening of the pool for use this coming season. The board of directors of the Wills Point Chamber of Commerce voted to co-sign with the board of directors of the Wills Point Improvement Association a note, securing a loan for the balance of the money needed to complete the pool with necessary additions of sidewalks, building for restrooms, ticket office and concessions, plumbing for restrooms. The loan secured by these two civic-minded organizations is to be paid off from money received from various activities planned by the joint recreation committees of the chamber of commerce and the Wills Point Rotary Club.

Nine Wills Point VA boys will be among 3,000 high school Future Farmers from areas V and VI in North and East Texas who will be at East Texas State College Saturday, April 22, to compete in the annual FFA judging contests.
