   “The Junior High Tigers overcame the Edgewood Pups Tuesday night in the last half to take a 32-14 victory on the local field. The Junior High Tigers journey to Kerens Tuesday night, Nov. 8, for the play-off for the district championship.”

  “Wills Point Tigers, still clinging to a share of the conference lead, will clash with the Kerens Bobcats in one of the most important games in District 17A tonight on the Tiger field. With this being their homecoming, the Tigers will be fired up and ready to show Kerens some real action.”

   “Joe McLeod, 17 year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Stewart McLeod, received his license to preach last week. Dr. Harry T. Rankin, district superintendent of the Tyler district of the Texas Methodist Conference, presented the license to him, Wednesday night, October 26, at Russell Memorial Methodist Church services.  He serves as co-sponsor of the Junior MYF and leads many programs in the youth department.”

   “Cathie Mullin was elected FFA Wills Point Chapter sweetheart at their regular meeting held in the vocational agriculture building Thursday, October 13. Her parents are Mr. and Mrs. Billy Joe Mullin.”

   “Miss Teena Wilson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chester Wilson will represent thirteen counties in this area in the state finals of the 1960 Texas Farm Bureau Queen Contest to be held next week in Dallas.”

   “Haskell Miracle was elected president of the Van Zandt County Farm Bureau board of directors Tuesday night, October 25, at a board meeting here. Ralph Liston was elected to serve as first vice president, Jack Lester, second vice president and Jeff Teet of Phalba, secretary-treasurer. Members of the board of directors include Mr. Teet, J.M. Brett, Chandler; Paul Knowles, H.B. Etheridge, O.E. Acrea of Canton; Gaston Stephenson, Grand Saline; W.L. Parham, Ben Wheeler; Grady McFarland, Mr. Lester, Mr. Miracle, Chester W. Wilson, and Robert Scott of Wills Point.”
