David Musslewhite 1937-2015

David Carroll Musslewhite, 78, died in his home in Edgewood Dec. 5, 2015, due to complications associated with lung cancer.
Mr. Musslewhite, born on June 28, 1937, to Robert Chilton Musslewhite and Mildred Guinn Musslewhite grew up in Lufkin.  He received his BA degree from SMU in 1959, where he quarterbacked the varsity football team and served as President of the Student Council.  Following graduation, he proceeded directly to SMU School of Law, where he was a Barrister and won the Texas Moot Court competition.  After two years of study he departed to Oxford University where he had been awarded a scholarship by the Rhodes Scholarship committee.  There he played rugby and received a Master’s Degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics in 1963 before returning to SMU to complete his law study and receive his JD in 1964.

Gladys “June” Watson 1932-2015

A private graveside service for Gladys “June” Stephens Watson, 83, of Keller, formerly of Tyler, was held on Dec. 6, 2015, in White Rose Cemetery under direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home, Wills Point.
Mrs. Watson died Dec. 4, 2015, in Dallas.
She was born June 9, 1932, in Wills Point to Thomas J. and Mary Henderson Stephens.  She was a graduate of Wills Point High School.  In November 1953, she became the wife of LeRoy Watson, a U.S. Army medic who served his country during World War II.  She was an avid bridge player and devoted her life to her husband and children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Mary Stephens; husband, LeRoy Watson; brothers, Fred Stephens and T.J. Stephens; and her sisters, Jo Hooser and Dot McElveen.

Janice Weatherford 1941-2015

Funeral services for Janice Fae Weatherford, 74, of San Antonio, formerly of Wills Point, were held Dec. 5, 2015, at Allan Fuller Funeral Home Chapel in Wills Point with the Rev. Brian Tyre officiating.  Interment followed at White Rose Cemetery in Wills Point.
Mrs. Weatherford died Dec. 1, 2015, at St. Luke’s Baptist Hospital in San Antonio surrounded by her family.
She was born Sept. 18, 1941, in Wills Point, the daughter of Boyd Davis and Lola Mae Shaw Davis.    She was raised in Wills Point and graduated from Wills Point High School in 1959.  She was formerly employed at Haggar Pant Company in Greenville, a licensed beautician, and retired from Wal-Mart in San Antonio in 2008, after 33 years of service.

John Shelton 1934-2015

Memorial services for John “Bob” Robert Shelton, of Mesquite, are scheduled for 1p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, 2015, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home Chapel in Wills Point.
Mr. Shelton died Nov. 24, 2015, in Mesquite, due to a sudden heart attack.
He was born May 19, 1934.

Ken Davis 1938-2015

Funeral services for Ken Autry Davis, 77, of Wills Point, were held Dec. 8, 2015, at Russell Memorial United Methodist Church in Wills Point with Pastor David Cartwright, Rev. Lonnie Cunigan and Mr. Herschel LyBrand officiating.  
Interment followed at White Rose Cemetery under the direction of Allan Fuller Funeral Home in Wills Point.
Mr. Davis died Dec. 4, 2015, at his residence, surrounded by his family.

Paula McMillon 1932-2015

A celebration of life for Paula Nell McMillon, 83, of Canton, was held Nov. 28, 2015, at Mrs. McMillon’s home in Canton.  She will be placed beside her husband, Lloyd in Florida at a later date.

The night prior to her death she was up playing the piano, singing and playing with her grandchildren.   On Sunday, Nov. 22, 2015, she was given her angel wings surrounded by her family and friends. 

Mrs. McMillon was born Aug. 12, 1932, in Island, Ky.  Her childhood was spent with her parents, Renzo and Roxie Brown Payne in Island, Ky. at their home, Brown’s Hotel.

John Heir 1917-2015

John (Bubba) Henry Heir, 98, was peacefully called home by his Lord and Savior Nov. 18, 2015. He was born Sept. 24, 1917, on a farm outside of Wills Point to Mary and Claude Heir.

Mr. Heir grew up planting crops, picking cotton and milking cows. He met his childhood sweetheart Leota (Lea) Chambless when she was 8 and he was 11, and they walked hand-in-hand to a one room school house each day.

After graduating from Wills Point High School, he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps for two years, building bridges, roads and parks across Texas.

Jean Cathey 1928-2015

Jean Cathey, 87, of Quinlan went to be with her Lord and Savior Nov. 24, 2015, at her residence. Funeral services celebrating her life was held Nov. 29, 2015, at Ingram Funeral Home in Quinlan with Judge Hershey Barnett officiating. Interment was at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Irving.

She was born Oct. 18, 1928, in Amity, Ark.

She is the daughter of the late Stala Rabjohn and Nancy Burke Rabjohn. She was raised in Trenton and graduated from high school in 1946.

James Hardy 1927-2015

 

Funeral services for James Barnett Hardy, 88, of Longview, formerly of Wills Point were held Nov. 30, 2015, at Allan Fuller Funeral Home Chapel in Wills Point with Bro. Tim Mabe and Bro. Matt Ward officiating.  Interment was at Locust Grove Cemetery south of Wills Point.

Mr. Hardy passed from this life into the gates of Heaven, Nov. 26, 2015, at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview.  He was surrounded by the family he loved so much.

He was born April 21, 1927, in the Hiram community south of Wills Point, the son of Eldridge Franklin Hardy, Jr. and Junia Mae Barnett Hardy.  He was raised in Hiram and in 1944 he graduated from Wills Point High School.

Ethel Elliott 1933-2015

Funeral services for Ethel Estell Barker Elliott, 82, of Fort Worth, formerly of Wills Point, were held Dec. 2, 2015, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home Chapel in Wills Point. 

Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery in Edgewood.

Mrs. Elliott died Nov. 28, 2015, in Fort Worth.
