Six headed to State Tennis Tournament

Maddie Booth, Claire Hiler, Hope Turner, Jack Johns, Chase Daniell and Kash Adams will represent the Tiger tennis program at this year's 4A State Tennis Tournament.



The Tiger tennis team reached another milestone at the Regional Tennis Tournament in Longview April 19-20, qualifying a school-record six players to compete at the 4A State Tennis Tournament May 17-18.

Players qualifying for the State Tournament included the boys doubles team of Kash Adams and Chase Daniell, the girls doubles team of Claire Hiler and Maddie Booth and the mixed doubles team of Jack Johns and Hope Turner.

Coach Ann Daniell stated, “We are extremely proud of our kids. They have worked so hard and put so many hours into this sport.”

Individual scores from the Regional Tournament included:

-Aidan Phillips lost Joel Martinez of Center, 4-6, 7-6, 3-6

-Justin McGough lost to Adam Morris of Henderson, 6-0, 6-0

-Chase Daniell/Kash Adams def. Bradley Clift/Corey Malouf of Princeton, 6-0, 6-0; def. Brandon Goldring/Eduardo Garcia of Kaufman, 6-0, 6-1; def. Kavin Patel/Micah Moore of Spring Hill, 6-2, 6-3; def. Michael Sij/Brandon Statum of Kaufman, 6-3, 6-4

-Austin Etheridge/Jacob Sanford lost to Justin Mercer/John Lewis of Melissa, 6-1, 6-2

-Claire Hiler/Maddie Booth def. Angel Dube/Mary Beth Green of Anna, 6-1, 6-1; def. Brooklyn White/Maz of Morton, 6-0, 6-3; def. Abby Jones/Megan Nosworthy of Van, 6-3, 7-6

-Hannah Gern/Joshua Schreffler lost to Nick Vega/Mariah Gonzalez of Kaufman, 1-6, 0-6

-Jack Johns/Hope Turner def. Logan McKelvey/Collin Castleberry of Spring Hill, 6-0, 6-1; def. Tripp Penner/Taylor Barton of Carthage, 6-0, 6-1; def. Wes Humphrey/Shannon Lee of Pleasant Grove, 6-2, 6-2; lost to Dawson Penn/Lexi Penn of Spring Hill, 6-7, 1-6; def. Zoe Zablosky/Michael Rigsby-Argyle 3-6, 6-4, 6-3

The Vandal tennis program also qualified a girls doubles team to compete at the State Tournament with Abby Jones and Megan Nosworthy finishing second overall at the Regional Tournament.
