Funeral services for Leon Baker, 88, of Wills Point, were held Friday, Sept. 29, 2017, at Allan Fuller Funeral Home Chapel in Wills Point with the Rev. Fred Cooper officiating.

Interment followed at New Hope Cemetery.

Mr. Baker passed away Monday, Sept. 25, 2017, at his residence.

He was born Sept. 3, 1929, in Wills Point to Fred Baker and Bessie Greenway Baker. He was raised in Wills Point and attended Wills Point High School. He married Selma Rose York Feb. 12, 1953. He was a self-employed cattle rancher. He enjoyed fishing, going to rodeos, garage sales and attending auctions. He was of the Baptist faith.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Bessie Baker; son, David Baker; two brothers, Gene Baker and Richard Baker, and three sisters, Dorothy Burleson, Christine Brockman and Vernell Daughtery.

Survivors include his wife, Selma Baker of Wills Point; son, Thomas Leon Baker and wife, Jan of Edgewood; daughter, Katie Rose Baker of Wills Point; daughter-in-law, Carol Baker of Wills Point; six grandchildren, Bobbie Lea Baker, Steve Hulse and Mark Hulse of Wills Point, Shane Hulse and Diana Hulse of Myrtle Springs, and Jennifer Seale of Edgewood; six great-grandchildren, Emily Garner, Brian Hulse, Hayden Hulse, Crystal Hulse, Johnathan Hulse and Alex Hulse; great-great granddaughter, Hensley Hulse; brother, Derrell Baker and wife, Eleta of Wills Point; sister, Bea Turner and husband, Jim of Wills Point; nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Brad Goggans, Donald Brockman, Alan Prachyl, Leslie Whitaker, Steve Hulse and Shane Hulse.

Honorary pallbearers were Charles James, Ted Deen Sr., Hugh Lowe and Walter Barnes.
