Lady Tigers begin District 13-4A play

The Wills Point Lady Tigers will have some work to do if they plan on reaching the playoffs for the sixth consecutive season, currently sitting at 0-2 overall in District 13-4A play after losses to Mabank Sept. 22 and Canton Sept. 26.

The Lady Tigers traveled to take on the Eaglettes, winning just one set in a four-set loss to Canton. The Eaglettes began play red-hot against Wills Point, storming out of the gate to take the first set 25-13.

Wills Point continued to struggle against the Eaglettes in the second set, getting outpointed 25-22 to fall into a two-sets-to-none deficit. The Lady Tigers bounced back in the third, re-establishing their footing by taking the set 25-23.

Canton closed play out in dominant fashion, taking the fourth set by eight points to wrap up the 25-13, 25-22, 23-25, 25-17 win over the Lady Tigers.

The Eaglette JV topped Wills Point 25-22, 21-25, 25-23 and the Lady Tiger freshman defeated their Canton counterparts 25-21, 19-25, 25-10.

Current varsity district standings show Van in first place at 2-0, followed by Canton, Brownsboro, Rains and Mabank at 1-1 and Wills Point at 0-2.

Wills Point is scheduled to travel to Van Sept. 29 before returning home for five consecutive district matches against Rains Oct. 3, Brownsboro Oct. 6, Mabank Oct. 10, Canton Oct. 13 and Van Oct. 17.
