Summer camp season kicks off

The Wills Point Tiger Athletic Department hosted its first camp of the summer season earlier this week with the annual Lady Tiger Softball Camp May 30 – June 2 at the Lester Park baseball/softball complex.

Other upcoming summer camps will include football, baseball, tennis, volleyball and basketball. Camps are scheduled to include:

Boys Basketball

Tiger basketball camp will take place June 5-8 in the high school gym. Incoming 3rd-6th graders will take the court from 9-10:30 a.m. and incoming 7th-9th graders will take the court from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. daily. The camp fee is $25 and includes a t-shirt.

Girls Basketball

Lady Tiger basketball camp will take place June 5-8 in the high school gym. Incoming 3rd-6th graders will take the court from 9-10:30 a.m. and incoming 7th-9th graders will take the court from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. daily. The camp fee is $25 and includes the cost of a t-shirt.

Tennis

Wills Point Tiger tennis camp, under the direction of coaches Ann Daniell and Len Turner, will take place June 12-15 at the high school courts. The camp will be open to kids ranging in from age 4 through those entering 9th grade.

Sessions will be divided into three age groups, with those 4-years old through those entering 2nd grade competing from 8:15-9:15 a.m., those entering 3rd-6th grade competing from 9:15-10:15 a.m. and those entering 7th-9th grades from 10:30 until noon.

The camp fee is $25 and includes a t-shirt.

Strength and Speed Camp

The WPHS Athletic Department will hold Tiger Speed and Strength Camps for both their male and female athletes from June 12 through July 27, with no camp scheduled for the week of July 4.

The camp for male athletes will take place from 8-10 a.m. daily and be open to incoming 9th-12th graders. The cost of the camp will be $40 per athlete. The price drops to $30 per athlete if there are two or more registering from the same family.

The camp for female athletes will take place from 10:30 a.m. – noon daily, and will be open to all junior high and high school girls participating in athletics. The cost of the camp will be $40 per athlete. The price drops to $30 per athlete if there are two or more registering from the same family.

Baseball Camp

Tiger Baseball Camp, under the direction of Coach Todd Staley, will take place on June 19-22. Incoming 3rd – 6th graders will take the field from 8-10 a.m., and incoming 7th-9th graders will take the field from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. The camp fee is $25 and includes a t-shirt.

Volleyball Camp

Lady Tiger volleyball camp for incoming 4th– 9th graders is scheduled for June 26-29. Camp will take place from 9-11 a.m. The camp fee is $25 and includes a t-shirt.

Football Camp

Tiger football camp has been scheduled from July 31-August 3 this summer. The camp will be open to incoming k-9th graders from 8-10 a.m. each camp day. The camp fee is $25 and includes a t-shirt.
