Memorial services for Benny Ray Young, 59, of Wills Point are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, March 18, 2017, at Willow Springs Missionary Baptist Church, with Pastor Craig Locke officiating.
Services are under direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point.
He was born on Oct. 28, 1957, in Dallas to parents James Calvin and Opal Faye Young. He passed away March 11, 2017, in Tyler.
He was raised in Dallas where he attended high school and was employed by Southern Waste Management, where he learned to drive an 18-wheeler.
He met Stacey Kay Ross and they married March 30, 1991, in Longview. Wanting to get away from the city, they moved to the Wills Point/Edgewood area in 2001, and he was employed by A.S.E Transfer Company in Tyler.
He enjoyed farming his 29 acres and he loved the clearing, the building and the upkeep of the homestead. His tractor and his mower were his best friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Opal Young; brother, Jerry Glen Whatley; and sister, Carlene Renfro.
He is survived by his wife, Stacey Young of Wills Point; sons, Joshua James Young of College Station and Chance Ray Young of Wills Point; daughter, April Young of Bedford; granddaughters, Taylor Steeds and Lauren Carter; brothers, Lyndel, Richard, Robert Renfro, Johnnie Earl Whatley, and James Young; sister, Jean Leader; and many nieces and nephews.
