VZC Library officers to be installed, new computers coming

The Friends of the Van Zandt County Library will meet in the Buchanan Room of the VZC Library for the annual business meeting and installation of officers at 10 a.m. Monday, May 9.   Mayor Lou Ann Everett will install the following Suezette Branton, president;  Tonja Garten, secretary;  Ann Spruiell, treasurer;   Sandra Giles, reporter;  and Nancy Buchanan, memorial secretary.

Next time you are at the Library, look into the shelf in the hall of the foyer.  It is jam-packed with books which are either donations not needed for the collection, or books which have been removed from the shelves.  You might find a favorite there.  The price is right.

New computer tables are on order, but computers are available as always.  WiFi continues to be a popular Library feature for use with personal laptops.  It is a good place for study and research in a cool, comfortable atmosphere.

Recent memorials were received for June Eberhart from Dennis and Debbie Hilliard and Barbara and Dr. John Turner.

Included on the magazine rack is a copy of The Van Zandt County Genealogical Society Quarterly.  Look it over, and consider joining the group.  They meet regularly on the fourth Saturday of each month.  The “Gen Society” Library is located in the Courthouse Annex.   It is amazing to see the collection of information they have housed in a small space.

Check the foyer table in the Library for schedules for summer programs, and other information.  School will soon be out.  Include Summer Reading in your children’s plans.   It is your Library.  Take advantage of all that is offered.
