Annual rodeo, parade drawing near

Preparations for the annual Wills Point Riding Club Rodeo Parade and WPRC Rodeo continued to find another gear this week with dates for this year’s editions, scheduled for July 17-18, drawing closer with each passing day. 

Events, and event information, includes:

Queen Competition

Ticketing for the UPRA Rodeo at Bill “Ike” Allred Arena got underway last week with challengers for this year’s Queen title hitting the bricks to sell advance tickets.

Rodeo queen contestants are broken down into three age groups: Tiny Miss, age 6 years and younger; Princess, ages 7 to 13 years; and Queen, ages 14 and up.

Rules for Tiny Miss, Princess and Queen include:

-Each contestant will be given $250 in tickets at the time of registration.

-The contest is based on ticket sales ONLY.

-In order to qualify, $100 in tickets must be sold.

-To receive additional tickets, ticket money from the original packet must be turned in.

-Contestants do not have to ride a horse or participate in the rodeo.

-All contestants should be at the rodeo on July 17-18.

The winners of the 2015 Rodeo Queen contest will be announced at the WPRC United Pro Rodeo Associate Rodeo on July 18. The rodeo will be held at Bill “Ike” Allred Arena, with gates opening at 6:30 p.m. Any questions on the queen competition or registration can be directed towards Linda Langford at 903-873-3701 or 214-354-3296.

The 47th Annual Wills Point Rodeo will be a two-day event, on July 17-18 at the Bill “Ike” Allred Arena. The rodeo is scheduled to begin at 8:30 p.m. nightly. Tickets for the rodeo will also be available at the gate on the day of the event.
