Bennett named Newcomer of the Year

Wills Point Tiger sophomore Caden Bennett was selected as the District 14-4A Newcomer of the Year in a vote of district coaches. Bennett was a member of a Tiger team that qualified for this year’s playoffs after finishing third overall in District 14-4A play.

District 14-4A coaches released their list of Superlative and All-District honorees for the 2015 baseball season this week.

As expected, District 14-4A Champion Van helped lead the way in Superlative honorees, taking home District MVP, Defensive MVP, Pitcher of the Year and Coach of the Year honors. Additionally, the Vandals also placed three players on the All-District First Team, five players on the All-District Second Team and two more on the Honorable Mention All-District Team.

Wills Point, third place finishers in District 14-4A play, took home the Newcomer of the Year Superlative, as well as two spots each on the All-District First and All-District Second Team.

Superlatives

-MVP: Jacob Tobias, Van

-Offensive MVP: Toby Davis, Brownsboro

-Defensive MVP: Jacoby Bogue, Van

-Newcomer of the Year: Caden Bennett, Wills Point

-Pitcher of the Year: Garin Shelton, Van

-Coach of the Year: Jerami Hawkins, Van
