The Wills Point rumor mill was kicked into high gear last week after word began to spread that WPHS Principal Jim Lamb, a 24-year district employee, had been put on administrative leave on May 22.

Lamb, who has also served locally as a coach, teacher, head coach, athletic director and assistant principal prior to being named principal, was expected to go before the Wills Point ISD Board of Trustees at a special called meeting scheduled for 6 p.m. May 28 at the Wills Point ISD Administration Building.

A series of questions was asked about whether Lamb had been placed on leave, what the reasoning behind the decision was, where the decision came from, what potential punishments Lamb was subject to, and whether Lamb would be the focus of the May 22 special called meeting, Superintendent Suzanne Blasingame stated that “I cannot respond to the first set of questions other than to say the agenda is posted for Thursday (May 22) night.”

Shortly after news of Lamb being placed on administrative leave broke, hundreds took the social media sites in search of information about the decision, with many speculating that the decision came after a portion of the annual WPHS Scholarship Banquet recognizing the class valedictorian had been skipped over.
