The Wills Point Tigers put a bow on their regular season last week, rallying for a 7-6 win over the Emory Rains Wildcats to clinch the third seed in District 14-4A play.

The Tigers were down 6-4 heading into the seventh inning before rallying to send the game into extra innings. Wills Point kept Rains off the scoreboard in the top of the eighth before scoring the game winner in the bottom half of the inning.

With the bases loaded, Lonnie Carroll was hit by a Wildcat pitch, scoring the winning run.

The win helped move the Tigers to 6-6 overall, three games behind district champion Van, two games behind second seed Brownsboro and one game better than fourth seeded Van.

Wills Point will now return to what has become their home away from home this weekend, competing in the bi-district round of the playoffs with games at Copeland Field in Mesquite.
