Jayton Oldacre led all Tiger players with 13 points during the Tigers district-opening loss to the Brownsboro Bears.

The Wills Point Tigers made their way to Brownsboro Jan. 11, taking on a Bears team riding a 36-game district winning streak. Despite a game effort from the Tigers, Brownsboro’s streak would reach 37 with the Bears taking a 43-36 win.

The Bears narrowly outscored Wills Point 13-11 during the first quarter. The deficit widened in the second with the Bears outpacing the visiting Tigers 13-7 to extend their lead to 26-18 entering the half.

Wills Point put together their best effort of the night following the break, rallying back to outscore Brownsboro 11-8. With eight minutes left to play, the Tigers trailed 34-29.

Brownsboro did just enough down the stretch to keep the Tigers at bay, closing the game on a 9-7 run to secure the 43-36 win while also extending their perfect run through district play.

Jayton Oldacre led all Tiger players with 13 points overall, followed by Demontre Hill, Savion Kellum and Coby Bennett, and Josh Davis with five.

The Tigers were scheduled to host the 1-0 Mabank Panthers Jan. 15 before back-to-back rivalry games in Van Jan. 18 and Canton Jan. 22.
