New event added to Christmas celebration

Posted in:

The Wills Point Chamber of Commerce continues its preparations on their signature holiday event this week, putting the finishing touches on this year’s Christmas on the Bricks celebration scheduled for Dec. 6-7.

A crowd favorite, the annual Christmas Pageant, is scheduled to open the festivities Dec. 6 beginning at 7 p.m. at the Wills Point Community Center.

Things will crank up another level the following day with a full slate of activities including Breakfast with Santa, live entertainment, and the annual Christmas Parade.

The following morning, the Wills Point Ladies Club will once again kick things off by hosting Breakfast with Santa at the Wills Point Community Center from 8-10 a.m. Parents and kids will be able to grab a bite to eat, as well as take pictures with Santa.

Vendors will be set up throughout the day along the historic brick streets, selling both arts and crafts as well as food.

Another Christmas staple, the annual parade, will make its way through downtown Wills Point beginning at 1 p.m. with the theme for this year’s installment set as Christmas Vacation.

The chamber has also announced that the winners of the annual BRICK$ BUCK$ campaign to encourage residents to shop local will take place at 3 p.m. on the same day as Christmas on the Bricks.

Giveaway prizes for the BRICK$ BUCK$ prices will include: first place, $2500; second place, $1500; and third place, $1000. The person and their winning ticket must be present to win.

Business partners of this year’s BRICK$ BUCK$ drawings giving away tickets include the 20/20 Vision, Bruce & Human, Fairway Shoes, The Green House, Milano’s Pizza, RUS/TIK She Shed, RUS/TIK Boutique, Sweetheart’s Gifts, The Venue, Wills Point Chevrolet, Wills Point Hardware, Wills Point Veterinary Clinic, WP Visual & Performing Arts and Young Ideas.

While most of the lineup for the day’s activities remains the same this year, organizers did note that an ugly sweater contest will be a key addition to this year’s events.

Information about Christmas on the Bricks, any of the scheduled events, or to become a vendor or participant, can be found by contacting the chamber at 903-873-3111.
