NET Health reports higher recovered rate

The number of people designated as being “recovered” from a case COVID-19 continued to inch incrementally higher last week with the Northeast Texas Public Health District announcing that the local rate of such instances had hit 96.5 percent as of Nov. 11.

Since tracking began, there have now been 8,145 confirmed or probable cases (cases with a COVID-19 positive antigen test), including 4,734 confirmed cases and 3,411 probable cases during the pandemic began.

The number of cases in Van Zandt County since the pandemic began now includes: 2,299 in residents with a Canton address, up from 2,274 cases at the same time the previous week; 1,972 cases in residents with a Wills Point address, up from 1,965 cases; 1,023 cases in people with a Grand Saline address, up from 1,019 cases; 855 cases in people with a Ben Wheeler address, up from 849 cases; 798 cases in people with a Van address, up from 793 cases; 645 cases in people with an Edgewood address, up from 637 cases; and 266 cases in people with a Fruitvale address, up from 264 cases.

Additionally, there have been 135 confirmed and probable cases in people with a Mabank address since the pandemic began, unchanged from the previous week; 113 cases in people with a Murchison address, unchanged from the previous week; 90 cases in people with an Eustace address, up from 88 cases; 48 cases in people with a Chandler address, unchanged from the previous week; 22 cases in people with an Athens addresses, unchanged from the previous week; 12 cases in a person with a Brownsboro address, unchanged from the previous week; and eight cases in a person with an Edom address, unchanged from the previous week.

Data available as of Nov. 14 indicates that 41.49 percent of the local population ages five and older have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine while 37.03 percent of all eligible residents have been designated as being fully vaccinated.

COVID-19 vaccines and vaccine booster shots are available at two locations within the city limits of Wills Point, including Brookshire’s and Bruce and Human.
