The Friends of the Library just concluded their raffle of four lap/crib sized quilts. Winners were drawn and they are: Spiderman Quilt won by Carey Hawkins; Pieced Quilt won by Susan Gibson; Antique Paper Dolls Quilt won by Sydney Stilling and Dutch Boy Quilt won by Lau Deibert. Congratulations to our winners.

Exciting news for quilt lovers is that a raffle for a king-sized patchwork quilt has begun. This beautiful quilt is on display at the library. Raffle tickets are on sale for $2.50 a ticket, three tickets for $5, or seven tickets for $10. Come in and check out the quilt. The drawing will be held on Dec.16, in plenty of time for you to win the quilt and give for a Christmas present.

This raffle is always fun and a good financial boost for the library, so please be sure to join in.

Ms. Rhonda continues with the wonderful pre-school Storytime on Fridays at 10 a.m. She will be reading exciting stories for the young children and there will be a few Christmas stories once Thanksgiving is over. Ms. Rhonda also provides excellent and fun age-appropriate craft activities after each reading.

The Annual Christmas Bow Project Drive to fund the purchase of children’s books for the library is now underway. A gift of $20 will help purchase one book for our young patrons. Your donation is greatly appreciated and will make our kiddos very happy. Please stop by the library to make your donation or mail to Friends of the Library, PO Box 1072, Canton, TX 75103.

Mark your calendar for the regular meeting of the VZ County Genealogical Society which includes the “Show and Tell.” This is a yearly November tradition and that is very interesting and fun! Members bring artifacts, documents, and stories to share about their research, families, community. Come join the fun. The meeting begins at 2 p.m. in the Buchanan Room at the main library.

The library is located at 317 First Monday Lane, just up from that helpful stoplight at the intersection of Hwy 64 and FM 859. We are open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday. It is important to remember that the library will be closed Nov. 25-26 for Thanksgiving. Be sure to come early in the week to get your books for a relaxing Thanksgiving read.

Besides many books, audio books, DVDs, magazines, and newspapers, the library offers free use of computers and WiFi. The WiFi is still available in the parking lot even when the building is closed. Printing and copying are also available for a fee. Visit www.vanzandtlibrary.org for the schedule and upcoming events, or visit us on FaceBook.

To our avid readers who have read most, if not all, of the books of their favorite authors, we have lots of new books this month. Come see us and check out our new arrivals. We look forward to seeing you.
