Bonnie passed away March 26, 2020, in Wills Point.
Bonnie Lee Tisdale was born Jan. 30, 1929, in Holdenville, OK, to the late Tyree Lee Summy and Pearl Stewart Summy. She was the youngest of six children. Her parents moved to Turnertown in 1931. Bonnie graduated from Gaston High School in 1946. She later attended Kilgore Junior College and received her associate of arts degree. In August 1948, she married Donald Tisdale. Bonnie graduated from Baylor University with a major in Elementary Education. She and Donald were the parents of three sons, Donald, Stephen and Robert. Bonnie taught school in Mississippi and Texas, eventually retiring from Wills Point Elementary School.
Bonnie was active in each of the churches Donald pastored. While in Mississippi she started a young married couple’s class and it grew to be one of the largest of the church. In each church she was a teacher or director of Sunday school. Bonnie became known for being a great storyteller. She spoke to all of the civic clubs on many occasions. At First Baptist Church she worked with the G.A. girls, young adults and senior citizens. Bonnie was a friend to all who met her. She won a blue ribbon at the Texas State Fair for a smocked dress and her fudge. Her children will testify to the devout Christian life that she and Donald led. Bonnie and Donald celebrated their 71 st wedding anniversary in August 2019.
Bonnie loved her Lord, her husband, her children and her school children. It is certainly right to say that this wonderful lady will be missed by not only her family and friends, but also by a great host of people of Wills Point.
She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Donald Tisdale of Wills Point; sons, Donald Tisdale Jr. and wife Cathey of Gunter, Stephen Tisdale and wife Sally of Eudora, AR, Robert Tisdale and wife Debbie of Wills Point; sister, Billie Heintz of Henderson; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
