Funeral services for Billie Laurent, 85, of Edgewood were held Monday, Feb. 18, 2019, at the First Baptist Church in Edgewood with Pastor Jonathan Leach and Rev. Jim Ballard officiating. Interment followed at Grove Hill Memorial Park in Dallas under the direction of Allan Fuller Funeral Home in Wills Point.

She passed away Thursday morning, Feb. 14, 2019, at Hospice of East Texas in Tyler.

She was born on June 18, 1933, in Dallas, the daughter of Samuel Earl Monday and Lillian North Monday.

She was raised in Dallas, where she graduated from Forest Avenue High School. She was formerly employed by the V.A. Hospital in Dallas, retiring in 1994.

She lived in DeSoto prior to moving to Edgewood 20 years ago. She loved spending time with her family and friends and in her spare time and she enjoyed traveling.

She was a faithful member and worker at the First Baptist Church in Edgewood, where she also served as secretary. Her greatest joy was spending time with, and loving on her children, grandchildren and great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Lillian Monday; one brother and two sisters.

She is survived by her son, Steve Smith and wife, Cathy, of Fort Worth; daughter, Emmie Baykian and husband, Phil, of Castle Rock, Colorado.; son, Neal Laurent and wife, Laura, of Willow Park; two sisters, Marie Elmore, of Edgewood and Dorothy Gilmore, of Arkansas; eight grandchildren, Chris Baykian, Scott Baykian, Kim Baykian, Sara Stoffel, Samantha Smith, Rachel Laurent, Alex Cherise and Emilie Cherise; and one great-grandson, John Robert Stoffel.

Pallbearers were Scott Baykian, Chris Baykian, Phil Baykian, Neal Laurent, John Stoffel and Steve Smith.
