The Northeast Texas Cattleman’s Conference will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2021. This year’s conference will have a different look and feel as it will be held in a virtual format only. “Due to the rising number of COVID 19 cases in our area, we feel it is in the best interest of everyone’s safety to hold it via ZOOM”, stated Tom my Phillips, CEA, AG – Van Zandt County. “Despite holding the program online, we still feel we have developed a high-quality program for our producers.” Deadline for registration is Jan. 25.

Both kids and adults took advantage of the rare occurrence, playing outside and, in some instances, building snowmen. In light of the wintry mix and the possibility of dangerous driving conditions, Wills Point, Edgewood, Fruitvale, Grand Saline, Martins Mill and Van all cancelled school on Jan. 11 while Canton started instruction after a two-hour delay. Equipment is minimal – just comfortable shoes. There are no gym fees, no heavy weights, and you can certainly go at your own pace. Listen to music, think, let your dog enjoy the great outdoors with you. Taking into account what the weather may be on any particular day (after all, we live in Texas) it’s a great time to take a walk around the neighborhood!

Read moreThe Wills Point Chamber of Commerce and local business community hosted their first major event in months Oct. 31, welcoming children of all ages to downtown for the 11th annual BOO on the Bricks celebration. Events including costume contests, a health fair, Kid Zone and more, coupled with mild temperatures and plenty of sunshine, helped draw hundreds throughout the day. With BOO on the Bricks in the rearview, the Wills Point Chamber of Commerce will now turn its focus on putting the finishing touches on this year’s Christmas on the Bricks event and BRICK$ BUCK$ drawing which have both been scheduled for Dec. 12.
