Gladys Mae McBride, a cherished resident of Edgewood, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2024, surrounded by her loving family at her home. She was 90 years old.

Born on November 9, 1933, in Aberfoyle, Texas, Gladys was the daughter of William Ira Woodruff and Luvenia Ellen McKay Woodruff. She spent her formative years in the Hunt County area, graduating from Wolfe City High School. On July 18, 1953, she married the love of her life, David Russell McBride, in Rockwall. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.

One of Gladys’s simple pleasures was spending time on the back porch, where she enjoyed conversing with the birds and squirrels, finding joy in nature’s company. Gladys worked as a receptionist for Sears Co. and Baylor Dental College, dedicating 13 years of service before retiring. In 1980, she and David decided to make Edgewood their permanent home, where they found solace and community. Gladys was an active member of First Baptist Church, where her faith was a guiding light in her life.

Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, David Russell McBride, her parents, William and Luvenia Woodruff, her brothers Earl, Walter, and Reid Woodruff, and her sisters Ethel Luckey and Lavern Page; and granddaughter, April Dodd.

She is survived by her daughters, Debbie Treadway (Don) of Edgewood, and Judy Lynn Dodd (Billy) of Bullard. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Don David Treadway (Stacy), Todd Treadway (Bree), Brent Dodd (Jennifer), Jeremy Treadway (Cassandra), and Porter Treadway (Brandi), as well as 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Gladys is also survived by her brother, Troyce Woodruff (Willie Mae), and her sister, Elnita Wilson.
